Red Carpet and Royal Treatment for Fisher Family and House Guests!!
Emotional, Ceremonial, Sensational! The Fisher House Dedication was truly a grand affair! We rolled out the red carpet for VIPs like Governor Gary Herbert, Montel Williams, Robert Forrester of Newman’s Own, and Ken Fisher of the Fisher House Foundation. Gretchen Mack, mother of Lance Corporal Chance Phelps, sat front row as the house named in memory of her son was dedicated. Chance Phelps was a Marine killed in Iraq in 2004. Melba Wahlen also sat proudly in the front row imagining how her late husband, Medal of Honor recipient George E. Wahlen, would react to such an extraordinary day for Veterans. A tent full of so many people coming together to celebrate a single milestone: a safe place for hope and healing.
The Salt Lake City Fisher House is all about our Veterans and their families. Many of those families took part in the celebration right along with us, finding peace, joy and comfort with new friends and family. Since welcoming our first guests, we already see the difference being made in families’ lives.
Thank you to our generous donors, volunteers, employees and to our local community for such incredible support.
