Mission and Vision
The mission of the chaplains in the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System is to provide comprehensive religious, spiritual, and pastoral care for all veterans, their family members, and staff.
The vision of the chaplains is to serve all veterans, family members, and staff members by facilitating their reconciliation with God, with each other, and with their own life circumstances.
Programs and Services
The chaplain represents the religious community. By virtue of training and experience as a health care specialist, chaplains are aware of the spiritual and moral dilemmas which often arise from the anxieties, problems, and fears which accompany illnesses and disabilities. The chaplain provides the kind of religious ministry and pastoral care that seeks to meet the needs of the whole person in his or her struggle for health and peace of mind. The chaplain is sensitive to the variety of religious and cultural backgrounds of veteran patients to whom ministry is provided.
