The VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City has an Emergency Department that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you have an emergency and require the services of paramedics they will help you decide if you should go to the closest emergency room if the VA emergency is not close to where you are.  Our phone number is (801) 584-1205.

Transfers

If you have a health emergency requiring you to be seen in a community hospital emergency department or you are admitted to a community hospital, you may request to be transferred to the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Based on your eligibility the VA may pay for the care until you are stable to be transferred. To have a request for transfer made, please have the hospital personnel call the transfer coordinator at (801) 582-1565 ext. 1983, weekdays and (801) 582-1565 ext. 1400, evenings and weekends.
