The new 72-unit Valor House, which will give homeless Veterans a place to rebuild their lives on the Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs campus was dedicated on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. The building will be designed to accommodate 72 beds (each with private room and bath) and the facility will also include a front desk, lounge, interior recreation area, library, 12 community kitchens, outdoor patio for barbecuing and box gardening, 14 outdoor parking spots and an outdoor basketball court, and supporting office and meeting space. The building’s central core will be pentagon-like shape with four wings off the main section. Several arrays of solar panels will help provide power. Veterans will also be able to get help and information with several programs based directly in the house.
