Current PGY1 residents

Portrait Darion Bevan Darion Bevan, PharmD

Darion was born and raised in Salt Lake City, where he completed his undergraduate studies.  Darion completed his PharmD training at the University of Florida.  He is excited to be back home in Utah completing his PGY1 here at the VA Salt Lake City HCS.  His career interests are not fully elucidated at this point, though he is primarily interested in outpatient services.  Outside of pharmacy, Darion and his wife recently had their first born daughter in August.  His hobbies are anything and everything sports.  He loves playing basketball, volleyball and golf and enjoys watching and attending all myriads of sporting events. He also loves all the outdoor activities that Utah has to offer including: camping, hiking, fishing and skiing.


 Portrait Anthony Minjarez  Anthony Minjarez, PharmD

Anthony was born and raised in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah with his bachelors of science in Biology before pursuing his PharmD at the U. While at the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy, Anthony participated in the VA Salt Lake City HCS Pharmacy VALOR program and immediately loved working with the fantastic pharmacists and providers all while being able to serve our veterans. He is thrilled to be returning to the VASLCHCS to complete his PGY-1 residency. Anthony is still exploring the many options for PGY-2 training but is currently interested in internal medicine and primary care. Away from work, Anthony enjoys spending time with his friends and family, baking, watching Netflix, and supporting the arts (Ballet West, Utah Arts Festival, etc.). 

 Portrait Hillary Parkin  Hillary Parkin, PharmD

Hillary has lived in Utah, Vermont, and Idaho but considers Lehi, Utah her hometown. Before training at the VA Salt Lake City HCS, Hillary received her BS in biology with a minor in chemistry and her PharmD degree at the University of Utah. Her current clinical interests include internal medicine and ambulatory care. She is excited to continue to explore these interests and gain experience in other areas at VASLCHCS. When not hard at work practicing pharmacy, Hillary enjoys eating street tacos, reading, organizing, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Russell, and their adorable litter-box-trained bunny, Daisy.

Portrait John Gardner

John Gardner, PharmD

John was raised in Murray, Utah. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Montana in beautiful Missoula. He is excited to continue his residency training at the VA Salt Lake City HCS as part of the newly established ambulatory care PGY2 program. He looks forward to working with the outstanding pharmacists and providers at VA Salt Lake City and the many learning opportunities that await him throughout the year. Away from work, John enjoys spending time in Utah’s mountains hiking, camping, and fishing with his wife and daughter. He also is passionate about sports and loves attending various sporting events, particularly University of Utah football and Utah Jazz basketball games.

Jamie Lei, PharmD

Jamie grew up in Brooklyn, New York and spent most of her childhood at the Coney Island beach. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy in Queens, New York. After graduation, she moved to Utah to complete her PGY1 pharmacy residency here at the VA Salt Lake City HCS. She looks forward to completing her PGY2 training in Mental Health at VA Salt Lake. Her clinical interests include inpatient and outpatient psychiatry and substance use disorders. As a food enthusiast, she enjoys traveling and trying new foods with every chance she gets. She will never miss out on an opportunity to explore a new city or country. Since moving to Utah, she has had her first hike, first camping trip, and first visit to a national park. She is exited to continue to explore Utah and the many adventures and actvities it has to offer.


Portrait Audrey Wadhwani
Audrey Wadhwani, PharmD

Audrey was raised in Spokane, Washington. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Washington State University (Gooooo Cougs!). Throughout pharmacy school, she always knew she wanted to be a specialized mental health Clinical Pharmacist, and has been taking all the steps needed to follow-through with her goal. After Audrey graduated from pharmacy school, she completed her PGY1 residency at the VA in Roseburg, Oregon with a focus in psychiatry and ambulatory care. Her clinical interests are primarily in outpatient mental health and primary care mental health integration services. Outside of pharmacy work, Audrey enjoys yoga, basically anything outdoors and trying new foods. She also is a proud owner of her soon to-be 4-year-old cat, Frodo. Audrey is very excited to spend this next year at VA Salt Lake and is looking forward to working with everyone.

Portrait Katie Voltz Katie Voltz, PharmD

Kate Voltz grew up outside Buffalo, NY, but comes to the VA after spending the last 5 years in St. Louis, MO. She received her B.S. in physics from The State University of NY at Geneseo, her M.S. in Biology at Colorado State University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. Kate’s clinical interests include substance abuse, PTSD and anxiety, and one day she hopes to provide mental health services to underservedpopulations. She is working her way through all the national parks and has currently visited 24 of them. In the future she hopes to own a bison farm and build furniture.
