One girl, 1,537 Christmas cards!

When Chani Koense sets out to do something she does it right.  The Payson High School sophomore couldn’t stand the thought of Veterans being in the hospital over the holidays so she decided to bring a little Christmas to them.

With the help of every other school in Payson, Chani managed a holiday wish for everyone of our hospitalized Veterans and then some.  She and her family braved the wild weather, collected the cards and showed up at our medical center just in time for our volunteer gift distribution.

The best part was being able to escort Chani through our clinics and waiting rooms so she could deliver some of the cards in person. Chani’s dad is a disabled Veteran.  She grew up watching her dad struggle and says she truly appreciates the sacrifices made for our country.

The cards are her way of saying thanks and you are not forgotten this special time of year.  She also promised to be back again next year.
