VA Salt Lake Farmers Market: Food, Friends, & Fun
The end of summer brings cooler temperatures, shorter days, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers markets—including one right here on the campus of the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center.
The VA Salt Lake City Farmer’s Market is now underway. It takes place from 11am – 2pm every Wednesday until Sept. 11th outside of the Building 8 Canteen. Everyone – patients, employees, and the public – is invited!
In addition to fresh produce from Tagge’s, each week there will be food truck as well as many other vendors. Come try out an array of salsas from Salsitas Mendoza’s chips and salsa, a personalized lemonade from Psychedelic Citrus, and baked goods from VR Bakery! While you’re enjoying some delicious food, stop in to look at a variety of home decorations made from wood pallets, with a vintage feel at Kone’s Krates, beautiful photographs and prints from Fotos Etcetera, and some gorgeous beaded necklaces, bracelets, etc. from one of our very own Veterans!
Along with all the great vendors and yummy foods, there are recipe demonstrations, nutrition activities, and wellness challenges! At these recipe demos you will get a free recipe, learn how to make the dish, and give it a taste test. Lawn dice, cornhole, jump rope, and more will be provided each week as part of the wellness challenge!
The Farmer’s Market is a great place for friends, family, and fun! Stop by for a quick lunch break or enjoy it for a couple hours, with live music provided by Veterans and employees. If you like to perform, we will have an open mic. Bring your phone with your music, or a guitar and we will provide the rest.
