Mental Health

If you qualify for VA health care, you can get high-quality mental health services as part of your benefits. You may also be able to get care for certain mental health problems even if you don't have VA health care.

Mental health services in VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System provide consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being. Such as:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Health Care for Homeless Veterans 
  • Inpatient Mental Health Treatment
  • Outpatient Detoxification
  • Outpatient Mental Health Counseling
  • Outpatient Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment
  • Psychiatric Community Care
  • Recreation Therapy
  • Sexual Trauma Counseling
  • Substance Abuse Treatment
  • Transitional Housing
  • Mental Health Crisis Intervention and Referral Team

PTSD Walk-In Assessment Clinic:

We provide assessments for possible military related PTSD via appointment only. The assessments will be conducted via tele-mental health. The intake processes consists of completing intake questionnaires. Veterans are then individually interviewed by a PTSD clinician. At the end of the interview, the clinician will provide initial diagnostic and treatment recommendations for the Veteran.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will no longer be holding an open walk-in session for PTSD assessment on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., Building 16.

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health consultant.
