Mental Health

If you qualify for VA health care, you can get high-quality mental health services as part of your benefits. You may also be able to get care for certain mental health problems even if you don't have VA health care.

Mental health services in VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System provide consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being. Such as:

  • Health Care for Homeless Veterans 
  • Inpatient Mental Health Treatment
  • Outpatient Detoxification
  • Outpatient Mental Health Counseling
  • Outpatient Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment
  • Psychiatric Community Care

PTSD Walk-In Assessment Clinic:

PTSD Walk-in Assessment intake clinic is held every Tuesday (except federal holidays) in Outpatient Mental Health, Building #16, in the Deer Creek room.  Veterans must be present between 11am and 11:30am.  Veterans are asked to bring in their DD-214 (if available) to the intake clinic. Please plan on 2½ to 3 hours for the intake process (depending on the number of Veterans attending). The intake processes consists of completing an intake questionnaire.  Veterans are then individually interviewed by a PTSD clinician. At the end of the interview, the clinician will provide initial diagnostic and treatment recommendations for the Veteran.
